Ejaz Farooqui reached the quarter-finals of the World Gymkhana Cricket Tournament while Daud Sports also won their match. With the permission of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Rising Star Cricket Club, all the Karachi Professor Ijaz Ahmed Farooqui Invitational Cricket Tournament has been decided in two more matches. After a tense contest, they reached the quarter-finals by beating six runs.
Batting first, the entire team of Universal Gymkhana was bowled out for 228 runs in 434 overs.
Fahad Ali gave up three runs with 46 runs while Matsum Ali and Wajid Ali were all out for 48 runs and two runs without any runs. In reply, Korangi-ul-Fateh Cricket Club failed to reach the desired target and was dismissed for 222 in 443 overs.
Yazan Khan scored 84 runs with eight fours and Matsum Ali scored 50 runs with eight fours. Hassan Mohsin gave away 23 for three. Aziz-ur-Rehman and Fahim Ahmed Bukhari performed the duties of empiring while Mohammed Ahsan was the official scorer. In the second match played at TMC Cricket Ground, Daud Sports scored 388 for five wickets in 45 overs in the stipulated 258 for the second wicket between Naveed Khan and Kashif Iqbal. The biggest individual innings of the tournament was scored by 182 runs and Kashif Iqbal aggressively scored 120 for 99 balls with 12 fours and three sixes while Mubashir Nawaz scored five fours and one six for 18 balls. From 34 Zafir Khan, who scored 213 runs in 422 overs, responded with 10 fours and a six. 62 runs and Zahid Qurban scored 56 runs with eight fours, while Aamir Elahi and Saudagar Khan scored 24, Nader Shah and Abyssal scored 38 and 10 runs respectively. Runs out two players.
