Shahid Afridi opening match in BBL

Back in the cricket season 2011-12 Shahid Afridi traveled to Australia to play the Big Bash League. He played the whole event for the Melbourne Renegades. Afridi was handy with his bowling and batting. He gave some good moments to his side.

Shahid Afridi first innings with the bat was a failure. He could not get into double figures. He hit most of his shots for singles. There was one double run shot and then only one four. There was no other boundary hit from the big man.

Afridi opened his account by hitting the ball to mid-on and get a single. This ball was pitched around his pads and Afridi hit it through the line and opened his account. The next hit was on the leg side that give Afridi a couple of runs.

This ball was again onto his pads and Afridi hit this one square on the leg side. Then came the big shot. Afridi could not time this one but the ball still managed to reach the fence. This hit was not timed well. It was an outside that had enough power in it to get to the boundary and cross it as well. Afridi then got out after this one. He hit the ball straight to long off. Botha took his catch.


In his opening game he came in to bat but could not do much in terms of getting scores. Afridi hit the first ball down to mid-on. This ball was hit towards his pads and he drove it to mid-on. Afridi immediately left his crease to take a single.

His partner responded as a result the two managed this single easily. The next shot was a hit down the leg side that gave Afridi a couple of runs. This was another good hit in the gap. The left arm spinner darted this one on the leg side.

Afridi could not get under this one hence he preferred to just time the ball in the gap and get some runs by running. Then Afridi hit the only boundary of the innings as far as his batting was concerned. This ball did not come anyway near the middle. It was a pull shot on the leg side and Afridi lost the grip from one hand while hitting this one.
